Dear Biden,
We had abortions.
Listen to us.
March 10th is Abortion Provider Appreciation Day, a day celebrated in honor of Dr. David Gunn, a beloved abortion provider who was murdered by an anti-abortion domestic terrorist in 1993. Each year, we send our love to our abortion providers for the supportive and loving abortion care they offered us when we needed our abortions.
This year, we are publishing an open letter—in partnership with abortion providers from across the country—to President Biden calling on him to show up for all of us who have and provide abortions, particularly in this moment of crisis.
If you’ve had an abortion, will you add your name to our open letter?
Our message to President Biden is clear—we need him to show up for us NOW!
Letter excerpt—read the full letter here:
We are facing a national crisis as the devastating Texas abortion ban continues to wreak havoc in people’s lives in Texas and beyond, state legislatures are working to pass a range of abortion bans and restrictions at a furious pace, all while the Supreme Court is poised to overturn or eviscerate the constitutional right to abortion.
That’s why we, as individuals who have had abortions and who provide abortions, are calling on you to take immediate action to protect abortion access. When the Texas ban effect took effect, you called for a “whole-of-government” response to the dire state of abortion access. The time is now to take action and fully unveil that approach. We call on you to engage every administrative tool across every agency to protect abortion access.
Mr. President, everyone loves someone who had an abortion—even you. We need to hear from you. We need you to show the nation how to support and love people who have and provide abortions during this crisis.
It’s time to listen to people who have abortions!
